“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!" - Matthew 7:7-11
Have you ever found yourself in a moment of need, feeling uncertain about where to turn or how to get the help you long for? Whether it's for strength, guidance, healing, or a breakthrough, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed when facing life’s challenges. But there’s a powerful promise in Scripture that reminds us that we don’t have to carry our burdens alone. We can ask God, seek Him, and trust that He will provide exactly what we need.
In Matthew 7:7-11, Jesus offers a profound invitation: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” It’s not just a general call to ask for anything—we are encouraged to turn to God with our hearts wide open, trusting that He is not only able but eager to give us what is best for us.

Ask God for What You Need
When we face difficulty or feel a longing in our hearts, it’s easy to forget that we have a heavenly Father who is waiting for us to ask. Jesus assures us, “For everyone who asks receives.” But what does it mean to ask? It means acknowledging our need, being honest with God about where we are, and trusting that He sees our situation better than we do.
Asking God isn't about making demands or giving God a list of what we think we want. It’s about opening our hearts to Him and humbly recognizing that He knows what we truly need. God is not just a provider of material things, but the giver of peace, strength, wisdom, and everything we need to grow and flourish.
So, whether it's courage to face the day, guidance in making a decision, or comfort during a difficult season, don’t hesitate to ask God. When we ask with faith, we tap into His infinite goodness, knowing that He delights in meeting our needs in ways that we may not even expect.

Seek God’s Presence and Guidance
“Seek, and you will find.” Seeking God means more than just asking for what we want—it means actively pursuing His presence and guidance. Seeking is about prioritizing God in our lives, turning to Him first for wisdom and direction, and listening for His voice. When we seek God with a sincere heart, we position ourselves to receive what we truly need.
Sometimes we seek answers or solutions, but what we may need even more is the peace that comes from knowing God is with us. Seeking God can transform our perspective, shifting our focus from our problems to His power, from our limitations to His endless possibilities. When we seek Him, He promises that we will find what we need—whether it’s answers, comfort, or simply the assurance that He is with us.
Knock, and the Door Will Be Opened
There are times when we might feel like we’re knocking on a door that refuses to open, but Jesus assures us that if we knock, “it will be opened to you.” Knocking requires persistence and faith, especially when we don’t see immediate results. It’s about continuing to come before God, even when the way forward isn’t clear.
This act of knocking symbolizes our trust in God’s timing. God doesn’t always open the door the moment we knock, but He is always faithful. Sometimes, knocking is a way for us to grow in patience, resilience, and trust. It’s a way of saying, “I trust that You will open the door at the right time and in the right way.” Keep knocking, because God is faithful to answer.
A Loving Father Who Knows What You Need
The passage also reminds us of God’s loving nature. Jesus points out that even imperfect human parents know how to give good gifts to their children—how much more will our perfect Heavenly Father give us good things when we ask? “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”
God isn’t just a distant deity; He is a Father who knows exactly what we need and who desires to give us good things. He sees the depths of our hearts, the areas of pain, and the dreams we hold quietly within. He is generous, loving, and committed to providing for us, often in ways that far exceed our expectations.
Why It Matters
The act of asking, seeking, and knocking is more than just a spiritual exercise—it’s an invitation to trust in God's goodness and His ability to provide. It reminds us that we are not alone, and that we don’t have to rely on our own strength or wisdom to navigate life’s challenges. We can turn to God with confidence, knowing that He is a loving Father who is eager to meet our needs.
So, what are you waiting for? What do you need from God today? Don’t hesitate to ask, seek, and knock. Trust that He is waiting to bless you, provide for you, and open doors you never imagined possible. When we ask with faith, we will receive. When we seek Him, we will find Him. And when we knock, the door will be opened.
God’s promise is sure: “If you ask, you will receive.” Keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking. Your Heavenly Father is waiting to give you exactly what you need.
